Marcia’s Song – “Reach Out”

Sharing Your Light with Someone in the Dark

Pitch black—you’re in a room that is totally dark.  There’s not even a sliver of light that you can see.

Has this ever happened to you? Maybe a blackout, when the whole city lost power, or maybe during a summer rain storm, in a room with no windows?

And, then, someone lights a candle or strikes a match.  Do you remember how wonderful it feels when that light opens up the darkness? That feeling of hope, or a feeling of lifting, something lightens, even with the smallest brightness in a sea of dark...

Do you remember how it feels to be in a dark place emotionally?  Maybe you are there right now.  I hope not, but if you are, remember that feeling that you got when you imagined that candle coming towards you.  And remember, you are not alone.

As a psychotherapist for a number of years, I have done my best to light a candle for my clients, to offer them hope, and to be a guide towards healing and light.

But even more, as a human being, I feel that one of our reasons for being here on this planet together is to reach out and connect with one another.  Not just when someone is hurting, but when we’re feeling good too.

Chorus:
Reach out your hand and heart to another,
Help one another know that they’re loved,
Each one of us has the need,
The need to be loved and seen;
Giving this gift, will bring back to you,
ABUNDANCE for your SOUL, abundance for your soul.

A heart that sits in the darkness,
Needs a candle to draw near,
With words so gently to encourage,
Hope and faith, to balance fear;
So many people are needing,
This light, what can we do?
Your candle’s light touches another,
In the darkness we see two.

A friend’s a light on our journey,
They’re a gift that is so dear,
Each one’s a blessing in uniqueness,
Precious for each laugh and tear.
Our days are filled with our “doing,”
Our “being” needs time too,
Reach out, connect with one another,
The world heals, and so will you.

How are You Connecting with Yourself?

The best place to start is to check the connection with yourself.  Are you in touch with and nourishing your spirit, mind, body and heart?  Do you listen to your intuition and follow its guidance?  Do you feel you have a short in your connection, some faulty wiring that’s not allowing for a full, strong and confident connection to your highest Self?

One of the best ways to connect with yourself is to STOP.  Yes, just stop everything, and go and sit in a quiet room, by yourself.  Shut your eyes and spend some time just breathing, in, out, in, out.  You deserve this time for connecting with, acknowledging yourself, being seen by yourself.  Ask yourself, like you would ask your best friend, “how is your life going old friend?  Is there something you need?”

Who are You Connected to in Your Life?

Think about the people you live with, work with, play with — Do you mutually support each other?  Are you critical of them and how they do things, or vice versa?

Some connections feel better than others to us.  What would need to happen for you to feel fully connected to others, to living life well and fully?

Connecting with others may feel easier for you than connecting with yourself.  I would suggest that you try connecting with them, whether it’s a family member or a friend, in a different way.  Put on a funny hat and wear it to the dinner table.  Surprise someone with their favorite dish.  Send a poem to a friend, by snail mail.

Or, you may wish to connect with someone in a way that you know they would like, even though it puts you out of your comfort zone.  Let’s say you have a friend that likes going to a shooting range.  I pick this one because this would really put me out of my comfort zone.  You could give this person a gift certificate for more time at the range (do these places cost money?), or you could get them a book that features something related to this activity.  You get the picture here.  You are simply choosing to acknowledge a part of them that you might usually ignore, because of your discomfort with that part of them.  Show someone in your life that you SEE them, all of them, and that you accept who they are.  What a gift that is!

I Want to Connect with You Too!

I look forward to connecting more with those of you that attend my teleseminars.  I feel so blessed to have you and your wisdom and your ‘presence’ show up for these sessions.  I will be doing another one soon, to follow-up on the previous one on beliefs.  We will be looking at more specific avenues to change those limiting beliefs into ones that support you better.

Feel free to write me and let me know if the song has been helpful to you!

Namaste, in love,
